Back to school, back to routines...

There's something comforting about the beginning of the school year and the arrival of fall.  Even if you haven't yet entered the school years, fall seems to bring a sense of settling down and settling into a routine.  Classes and programs once again begin and around here there are a multitude of program choices for every age, interest and ability.  Most programs and classes have just begun and others begin over the next two weeks.  I've heard that there are still a few spots open in many programs around the Upper Valley so it's not too late to sign up for that class you'd like to enroll your child into.

Here are some selections that may be of interest to you and your children:
Purple Crayon Productions-fall classes begin this week for the younger children offering various art classes,

ArtisTree-a new division of Purple Crayon Productions offering programs specifically for teens and adults.  Fall classes are beginning soon offering programs in art, music, video, drawing and an open studio for teens to drop in.  Check out their complete schedule and information on their site at http://www.artistreevt.org
Area town recreation departments have posted their schedules and their are too many programs to list here.  Check out sports, arts, music, special events and much more on your town's website.  Many towns open their programs to non-residents as well.
Upper Valley Aquatic Center-word is that they still have openings in their Fall Group Swim Lessons which begin on September 20th.  Parent and Me swim classes for children ages 6 months to 3 years, Preschool Swim Lessons for ages 3-4 and Lessons for ages 5 and up.  Next session begins on November 1st.  Complete schedule, information and registration forms can be found at their website,

CCBA-offers programs for everyone in the family to enjoy, from sports, gym facilities, swimming lessons, special events, preschool programs, and so much more, they have it all.  Children's swim lesson registration is going on now, first fall session begins this Saturday, September 18th, registrations are being accepted through tomorrow, September 14th. Music Together-offering musical classes for children ages 0-5.  Classes are offered through the Upper Valley Events Center in Norwich or Purple Crayon in Woodstock.
Local libraries have started their fall programs and story times. Your library is a great resource for more than just books.  Many offer passes to local museums and places of interest as well as movies, music, activities for kids and special events.
