Rather than re-invent the wheel we're re-posting last year's blog post about where to find the best places for Christmas trees with some updated information of course! Vital Communities publishes a list of where to find Christmas trees throughout the Connecticut River Valley via their Valley Food and Farm Farm Guide. You can find places that offer an entire experience complete with Santa, hot cocoa and a petting zoo to those that have just the simple tradition, of walking around the fields to find that perfect tree to grace your home.
Last year, we found a number of small tree farms to cut your own tree along Route 120 between Lebanon and Meriden, unfortunately we don't have the names or exact directions for each location but if you're up for a tree hunting adventure just take a short drive down Route 120 and you'll spot all the signs. Here are the other usual spots to find a nice tree around the Upper Valley near the Lebanon/Hanover area-
Balsam Ridge Tree Farm, located at 31 Derush Road, Canaan, NH. Cut your own trees and greens. Call ahead for hours of operation. 603-523-7023.
Noda Farm, located 8 miles south of Lebanon. Take Route 120 to Meriden and turn east on Bean Road at the blinking light. Follow the "Noda Tree" signs. Cut your own trees. Call ahead for hours of operation. 603-865-7328.
Hidden Field Fir Farm, located on River Road in Plainfield. Open weekends only. Cut your own trees and greens. 603-675-2007.
Nichols Christmas Trees, cut your own trees located on Route 10 (8 miles north of Hanover) in Lyme. Open
daily from 9:00 - 4:30 until 12/24/11. Fresh cut trees are also available in West Lebanon (next to Seven Barrel Brewery) and Lebanon (Hanover Street, near Stone Arch Bakery). 603-795-4392.
Here are a few other links to various locations throughout Vermont and New Hampshire.
Looking for a little adventure to add to your tree cutting this year? For just $5 bucks you can obtain a permit to cut a tree in the White Mountain National Forest. Talk about making a day of it!
Best of luck finding that perfect tree! Enjoy the adventure.
